Best Camp Teacher Award

September 25, 2016

A few weeks ago my branch manager surprised me at work when she told me that I had won an award. I received the “Best Camp Teacher” award for being so good during Singapore Camp. I guess it came as a bit of a shock since I was so exhausted during camp that I thought I was being too hard on the kids, but apparently Rhein didn’t see it that way.

Since I won the award I decided I would go to the awards ceremony in Taipei. Call me crazy, but I still wanted to go despite the fact that I would also have to sit through the HESS Talent Show as well. They like to pair up the two, which makes the ceremony nearly 4 hours long.

I took the train up to Taipei and made a pit stop at Krispy Kreme. I bought a dozen for Alice, Kristen, and I to split, but I looked absolutely ridiculous carrying around this big box. I met up with Alice in Main Station and we headed over to the National Taiwan Library. I quickly ate some lunch, we took pictures, and we went inside.

It was a long four hours, especially since my phone didn’t get any service in the basement auditorium we were put in for the ceremony. Despite all of these things I am really glad I went. It was nice to be recognized for my hard work and efforts within the company. I was also happy to cheer on Alice and the award she won.

After it was over I was back on the train and headed home to get ready for the week. I got an award, the long day was over, and I was ready to prepare for Japan!
