Finding the Sunset

I was spending another relaxing Sunday at home planning trips and looking at hotels. I had spent a good amount of my day starring at a screen and it was making me crabby. Fortunately, I had made a plan with my friend Alex to take a little hike up the mountain. I planned it to coincide with the sunset (thank you Apple Weather app!).

Before I trekked up the mountain with Alex and my scooter I let Alex test drive my scooter. She was going to be buying a scooter soon and wanted to practice before she actually got her scooter. After letting her drive around the block and around a small area I had her hop on the back of my scooter and I drove towards the mountain. We drove quite a ways up the mountain before I stopped and we decided to walk the rest of the way.

We got to a clearing in the trees. It was kind of a sloped area with an orange orchard that was separated by a road. It was around 5:20pm and I suggested we sit and relax a bit. Alex and I were talking about how we got to Taiwan. Whether some people want to admit it or not they always have a, “How I ended up in Taiwan story”. Some people have really random stories, some have sad ones, and some of very simple stories. That is the unique part about foreigners in Taiwan. Anyways, around 5:30pm the sky started transforming into a beautiful view with pink and purple hues across the sky. Alex and I soaked up the beauty of it all and then walked down the very dark road to my scooter. I was home by 6:00pm, but I think being around Alex’s kinetic energy that she carries and seeing a beautiful view was just what I needed.
